The sound of an ocarina is delicate and subtle, and when the Peabody Museum wanted to display their collection, they wanted visitors to hear the unique instruments in context.
MorrowSound designed a rich, non-repeating three dimensional soundscape, mastered and spatialized the ocarina recordings provided by the curator, and programed the installation's software to synchronize with selections on a kiosk. As visitors enter, they hear a lush Mesoamerican forest and when they interact with the kiosk, the forest fades to the background while the enchanting sounds of the ocarina come to the foreground. As visitors move on from the kiosk, forest ambience slowly resumes its original energy.
