Laura Poitras’s Bed Down Location is a durational film, ceiling projected over a wide platform. Visitors lay on their backs and watch drone footage from a US Air Force Base in Nevada and the night skies of Yemen, Somalia, and Pakistan. Poitras wanted to tie viewers to these sites, and needed sound to give visitors permission to spend many minutes meditating on the film’s message.
MorrowSound designed an arresting and contemplative soundscape that shook the space with slow, low frequency tones. In peripheral layers, desert winds, night insects, noises from radio astronomy, and fragments of tactical conversations floated above.
